End of term arrangements:

End of Term: Friday July 21st at 1.20pm. All students to attend period 1 to 4 and be dismissed at 1.20pm. School buses will be changed so students can get home. Please note that the school canteen will not be open for lunch.

Start of Term 1: Tuesday September 5th
Year 7: Start at 9.20am - please do not arrive earlier than this
Year 8-13 start at 9am
All year groups year 7-13 end at normal school time 3.25pm



The college launched a cashless catering system on Thursday 19th May 2011. Information about the system and other related topics may be found below.

Cashless Catering

From this date we will not be able to accept cash in the main Café or Taste Buds. Cash is still, however accepted in the Sixth Form Centre.

Each student is issued with an on-line account that parents can top up using the Parent Pay system which can be accessed via the link from the college website or direct to www.parentpay.com. If you have any problems accessing your Parent pay account please either email us on office@uctc.org.uk or alternatively contact the College on 01825 764844. If you do not wish to use the Parent Pay system for catering you may opt for a Pay Point card. To order a Pay Point card please contact Caroline Tucker at the college as soon as possible. If you have more than one child at the college you will need to order one card per child. If your child is entitled to Free School meals, their account will be automatically credit with this amount daily.

Each student will have their finger print registered which will then be translated to an Alpha Numeric number, the image is discarded, when students use this will enter into the system. If you wish your child to have a card please contact the college anf this can be arranged.

Certain data will be held on the system to enable accurate operation. This will include your child’s name, class, photo, account balance and meal entitlement. This data will be handled under the guidelines of the data protection act and only used by parties directly involved with the implementation of the system.

Cashless Catering Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Cashless System?

A cashless system allows parents to manage an online virtual purse for their child. The system recognises each individual student, holds individual cash balances, records cash spent and cash received, food purchased, on any specific date and time of day.

How are students recognised by the system?
How is this then used to obtain a school meal?

The student will be recognized by the system when using finger print registration, a display will show the server the student’s name, class and current cash balance held within the system. The selected food items will be entered into the system from an itemised keyboard while the amount spent and the new cash balance will show on the display.

How is money entered into the system?

(a) Via Parent Pay through your previously indentified on line secure account details which will be provided to you. We would encourage parents to use this system as the preferred method of payment to minimise administration.

(b) By Cash or cheque in the early weeks to the main cafe

If we pay for a set number of school meals, can it be spent in one day?

No, a daily spend limit of £5 will be set for all students and no food above that limit can be bought. On request, an individual student limit of your choice could also be set, to include a school meal and break time snacks.

What about students entitled to a ‘free school meal’?

The system works exactly the same for all students whether they pay or have a free school meal. All students have their own account to use in exactly the same way.
The amount allocated for the free school meal will be entered into the system by the software daily.
The system will then allow on a daily basis the required cash amount for each individual student to be allotted to their current cash balance. However, any under spend or missed meal will be identified by the system and will not be added to the next day’s balance.

The student can also add extra cash on to his or her balance in the system by using the revaluation station, to enable a greater daily spend on the school dinner than allocated by their free meal allowance.

What if the student does not hold a sufficient cash balance one day to pay for a school dinner?

As before, no student is refused a school dinner because they have not brought their dinner money to school with them. The school will allow for the student to loan money for one day. However, just as before, the student would be expected to bring some money with them the next day to repay the loan and re-credit the catering office.

What is meant by ‘dietary control’?

Should the student have a specific food allergy, or be a diagnosed diabetic, this medical information can be coded into the system, preventing foods with allergy ingredients from being served to a particular student, by automatically locking out relevant buttons on the keyboard.

What support will be put in place to help students manage their accounts?

Pastoral support will be available to induct students in the use of cashless catering and we are confident that they will learn this important life skill very quickly and enjoy being in control of their daily spend limit.

Will we be able to have any information on how the system is being used?
Reports can be obtained from the system giving comprehensive information on all aspects of use for each individual student. These reports can be for a specific day or between any dates you wish, they will be dated and timed to the minute, and can be obtained from the Catering Department.

(a) To show every item of food served and the total cost of each serving.

(b) Individual payments made direct to the school by cheque or cash and manually entered into the system.

(c) Each payment made by cash at the revaluation station by the student and if required, even the number of individual coins and the denomination.

In recognition of the busy lives that families lead and the preference for using online services, we will now be able to accept online payments for many college items using ParentPay. This will include educational trips, exam re-sit fees, booking and payment for college performances and School meals.

ParentPay offers you the freedom to make payments whenever and wherever you like, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week-safe in the knowledge that the technology used is of the highest internet security available. You can check balances online, view historic transactions and account statements.

You have a secure online account, activated using a unique set of activation codes; you will be prompted to change these, and to keep them safe and secure as your Username and Password for future logins. If you have two or more children at the college, you can merge their accounts once logged in.

Every parent will receive a letter which will provide details of their ParentPay account activation codes with a unique username and password. If you have not received this letter or have mislaid your unique details please either email the college on office@uctc.org.uk or telephone on 01825 764844. Making a payment is straightforward and ParentPay holds an electronic record of your payments to view at a later date; no card details are stored in any part of the system. Once you have activated your account you can make online payments straight away.
