We have received fabulous news that our students performed exceptionally well in the National Schools Trampolining Competition, with both the UCTC teams qualifying for the National Schools Final! The U19 Elite Girls (Charlotte Palmer, Libby Ralph and Louise Brownsey) bagged TEAM GOLD and the U14 Novice girls (Sian Emsley, Lauren Longhurst, Tabitha Coddington and Tayah Wastie) TEAM SILVER; no mean feat when there were SIX teams. Louise Brownsey also qualified for the U19 Elite Girls Individual event.
You are warmly invited to this year's Creative Arts Variety Show on Wednesday 21st January at 7pm. The evening features a range of performance numbers from the Drama, Dance. Music and English departments, with Textiles, D&T and Art displays to view before and after the show and during the interval. Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for children, £14 for a family or 4 and £16 for a family of 5 and are available from reception.
This term Year 10 students across Design & Technology, Engineering, Graphics, and Resistant Materials all participated in 'Design Ventura' a national competition run by the Design Museum London asking students to design and prototype a product suitable for sale in their shop. Groups worked throughout the term researching and designing ideas, presenting their final proposals to a panel of Judges including Mrs Shipley, Mr Hennebry, and guests from the local Rotary club.
On Saturday 13th December artist Dianna McKinnon came in to teach her techniques to out Y11, Y12 an Y13 Textiles students. We had an incredibly creative day applying her techniques and style to the projects that students are working on. As well as having a lovely day of making everyone went home with lots of ideas and work to help them with their qualifications.
Charlotte Basham won a £25 itunes card at the recent Wealden Careers Fair held at Uckfield Civic Centre. Charlie entered a competition on the Cheesmur Building stand where she had to identify 10 building materials; she managed to name 9 out of 10! Well done Charlie.
The Wealden Careers Fair was hailed a success; the first of its kind in Uckfield, it was attended by seven local secondary school including UCTC who took all their year 11 students.

Iceland Trip 2015
"Explore Iceland 2015". In July 2015 UCTC will be embarking on a 5 day overseas field trip to Iceland - The land of fire and ice! The trip is open to years 10-13 (current year 9-12). - more information here.

Last November Ofqual announced that from September (2013) students in England will no longer be able to sit A-level exams in January.
