As part of our on-going work with the Get Set project and the London 2012 legacy, UCTC is embarking on the ‘Road to Rio’. In 2016, Rio de Janeiro will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The distance from the Olympic Stadium in London to the Maracanã Stadium in Rio where the Opening Ceremony will be held is 9,298km.
Great day on the 28th February for the UCTC Equestrian team, in our first attempt at dressage today at Golden Cross Equestrian Centre. The Bluebell team of Shannon Limberger, Emma Bowyer, Sadie Dix and Chloe Bowles came 6th in the Prelim. The snowdrop team of Lauren Vane, Francesca Oliver, Amy Dennis and Livvy Logan came in 3rd place and a 4th place for Livvy in the individual! The daffodil team of Olivia Greenwood, Izzy Pennington, Chloe Macdonald and Freya Soloman, were are all very unlucky not to placed, as they all rode superb tests.
On World Book Day, Thursday 5th March, Bloomsbury author and former teacher Jenny McLachlan will be returning to UCTC to launch her new novel, Love Bomb. Described by Scholastic Books as ‘sweet, funny and mighty enough to blast you through the ceiling’ Love Bomb describes Betty Plum’s adventures as she falls head over heels for dangerous new-boy Toby. The book’s themes include first love, families and the power of the written word. Jenny wrote Love Bomb while she was teaching at UCTC and the college, its staff and students all inspired her book.
Hot Coals Theatre Ensemble will be bringing us their physical theatre production 'Storm in a Teacup:'. This show is highly recommended by Applause and, as you will see from the flyer, has already garnered great reviews.
It will be a one hour show with no break in the performance. There will be an interval followed by a question and answer session with the cast which I am certain will be great fun and very illuminating! Doors: 7pm
We will be holding a UCTC PTA meeting on Wednesday (4th March) at 7.30pm in the reading room.
